A wonderful little 1940s dress in a deep chocolate silky rayon that has little medallions scattered over it from top to bottom

deep pleating worked in the skirting and bodice and hand placed work through the hem so it has the slightest drawing in to suggest a tulip silhouette

I love the gathered detailing at the front and the way the skirt is cut so it falls in softly rounded folds

You will often see shawls from this period and the occasional dress

It a fabulous pink based red (I honestly can't decide if it is a red or a pink) weightless jersey that moves like nothing else. The top is cut in a simple fashion until you hit the waist at which point there is a sewn in waist band that is seamed and top stitched to create both visual interest and to display her trademark detailing.
